Physiotherapy

Every patient undergoes an assessment where treatment goals & plan are devised

  • The physiotherapist will educate you on your injury; provide manual “hands on” treatment, including Clinical Pilates.

  • Where appropriate they will provide a home exercise program with a focus on a quick return to full function and self management.

  • The physiotherapists at Solutions are also qualified in Clinical Pilates and Acupuncture

  • No referral is necessary for physiotherapy or Clinical Pilates for private patients

  • We also accept Workcover, Third Party, Medicare EPC and Department of Veteran’s Affairs providers with a referral from the GP

Clinical Pilates

Developed by physiotherapists, Clinical Pilates is a combination of traditional Pilates and the most recent research into injury prevention and rehabilitation.

  • We used specialised low impact equipment to work on muscle control – rather than strength – in patterns that are functional.

  • Clinical Pilates can be used for rehabilitation from any injury or as part of a general exercise program.

  • Research has shown that spinal stabilisation/core stability exercises not only decrease back pain and improves function, but is also vital in preventing the recurrence of back pain.

Every patient undergoes an initial assessment with the physiotherapist to discuss injuries (past and current), address any symptoms that may require manual treatment and discuss goals of treatment

  • The physiotherapist then develops a Clinical Pilates program for each individual addressing key problem areas based on their goals, strengths and weaknesses

  • Clinical Pilates is supervised by a physiotherapist and a trained assistant

  • Each session will include the relevant hands on physiotherapy techniques that are required for that patient

Pinc Pilates

The Pinc Pilates programme has been specifically designed to help women and men diagnosed with cancer regain their physical strength, improve their body confidence and incorporate exercise into their lifestyle.

Research shows that exercise therapy is a very important component in recovery from a cancer diagnosis and the effects of its treatment.  Both the surgery and chemotherapy cause extreme de-conditioning and fatigue, and exercise helps to correct both of these debilitating problems. More importantly exercise has also been shown to significantly improve longevity in cancer survivors.

The programme aims to help clients:

  • regain strength, flexibility and confidence in their body,

  • improve core strength and posture,

  • ease pain and muscular tension,

  • minimize weight gain and improve bone density

  • learn new exercises to enhance their recovery after surgery and prevent long term problems

  • increase energy levels during and after cancer treatments

  • achieve their own fitness goals with an individualised, safe training programme

  • gain a sense of control and boost the spirit

All Pinc Pilates services are provided by fully trained and experienced physiotherapists with specialist training in cancer rehabilitation. Excerpt from www.pinkpilates.co.nz - the training body for Pinc Pilates in AU/NZ.
